Hello and Welcome

Hello and Welcome,

Mushrooms are the answer! Now what's the question?

Did you know that fungi, mycelia and mushrooms feature more and more in current research, in all sorts of disciplines and have been so for decades. There is a paradigm shift in the understanding of our place in the natural world.

The most encouraging message for me, and for us all, is that our relationship with fungi is ancient, and that it is this partnership, or symbiosis, which is now key to our thriving in the future.

I have been engaging with a variety of fungal partners or 'myco- allies ' on my small holding here in hilly Devon for the last 15 years. In return, I have benefited from humic-rich, well balanced soil mulches, fresh medicinal and edible mushrooms and culinary myco-ferments. I have seen first hand, the power of mushrooms as healing and regenerative agents in our lives and on the land.

There are a lot of products out there, but when you look closely, they are not pure mushroom or clean extract. They often contain bulk mycelia and other fillers which have no benefit whatsoever!

I am aware of the need for a simple range of organically grown and well-sourced mushroom powders - and here they are!

How to make the perfect mushroom tea

A kettle and freshly prepared mushrooms

Method 1

A cozy drink; suggested fine powders include lions mane, cordyceps and turkey tail.

Step 1

Pop the kettle on! Whilst you are waiting for the water to boil, blend a level tsp (approx 3g) of your chosen powder with a very small amount of water so that you create a smooth paste using the back of a spoon.

Step 2

Pour about 300ml of freshly boiled water over the paste and stir. (You can use try your favourite warmed dairy or plant milk too)

Step 3

Allow it to cool down to a nice drinking temperature.

Step 4

Take 5. Get comfortable, and get undistracted. No one to be, nothing to do, but sip your tea and enjoy!

Method 2

Traditional style ancient tea; suggested chaga, reishi and turkey tail: fine or coarse powders, mushroom chunks and granules.

Step 1

Using a small saucepan, add approx 300ml of hot water to a tsp (3-5g) of mushroom powder or granules. Allow to steep for 10-30 mins.

Step 2

Bring to boil and simmer for a few minutes.

Pour and dilute to taste with hot water

Step 3

Refresh the pan with hot water and repeat... you can get another brew or two using the same mushrooms

Step 4

As above - Take 5 and enjoy!
